Resistor Calculator Section
Two-way Conversion
This feature allows users to calculate resistor values by selecting the corresponding band colours on the grid. Alternatively, one can input a desired resistor value in ohms in the top-right corner to obtain the appropriate colour bands.
Support for 4-Band and 5-Band Resistors
Users can tap on the resistor graphic to switch between 4-band and 5-band configurations.
Scanning Section
Supported Resistor Types
The app currently supports only 4-band resistors with a clear background colour.
Resistor Placement Guidelines
- Ensure that only one resistor is positioned within the designated square.
- Place the resistor horizontally inside the blue square, with the tolerance band located on the right, against a white background (a white sheet of paper is suitable).
- Utilize the zoom bar for optimal enlargement of the resistor.
- A larger resistor image will enhance the app's ability to accurately determine the colour bands.
Auto-focus Functionality
The app's camera is designed to automatically adjust focus. If focus appears inadequate, moving the camera slightly farther away from the resistor while using the zoom bar can improve clarity.
Light Conditions
It's important to note that camera capabilities in colour identification are comparable to human eyesight; therefore, light intensity and quality are crucial. When not using the camera’s flashlight, ensure that:
- The light source is white (other colours may hinder performance).
- Sufficient light is present for optimal visibility of the resistor.
- No shadows obstruct the view.
App Accuracy Considerations
The app's accuracy can significantly fluctuate based on various factors, including:
- Camera resolution
- Lighting conditions
- Background colour (should be exclusively white)
- Resistor positioning
- Focus settings
- White balance adjustments
While most variables are managed by the app, factors such as positioning, lighting, and resolution ultimately rely on user input. To achieve optimal results, users are encouraged to utilize "Live" mode with flashlight enabled. Following these guidelines diligently will yield better outcomes.
The app exhibits strong recognition capabilities for most colours; however, it may struggle with colours such as white or gray. This limitation is known, and improvements are planned for future updates.
